MATT DUMBLETON
Prop Designer
About
Matt Dumbleton is a carpenter and performer, as well as being co-founder of a not-for-profit organisation that brings the local community together in the outdoors, for the benefit of both people and nature.
As a performer, Matt understands the need to create props that work for the cast and the production, as well as being convincing for the audience. With a specialism in immersive set design, his recent jobs include building a Viking settlement for a piece of living theatre, which the audience were invited to experience for themselves after the show.
Matt's love of nature and the environment means he prioritises sustainability and reclamation in his work. For this reason, he loves to collaborate with historical productions that allow him to repurpose old pieces, while developing new skills and techniques.
"I'm really excited about this," he said. It's given me an opportunity to get into the Victorian era, which is a lot of learning for me. And they're a lovely team to work with."
